Document Recording
Most of the records in the County Clerk's Office are public record, excluding Military Discharges. Documents presented for recordation must be the original and signature(s) must be notarized. Original documents are scanned in and hand returned to you the same day (Excluding Judgement Leins, Plats, Surveys and Miscellanious Files).
For a complete list of document recording fees, please click here. The property transfer tax on real estate for Monroe County is $7.70 per one thousand dollars of value. This tax is paid at the time the deed is recorded, along with the recording fee. Public documents that are recorded in the County Clerk's Office may be copied. The copy fee is $1.50 for the first two pages and $1.00 for each additional page.
NOTE: The County Clerk or his staff are not permitted to perform title searches. Indexes to our records are computerized from 1999 to present.
